Women's Business Center
Date: Tuesday April 21, 2015
Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Category: Educational

Location: Hartley Room at FIT
Price: FREE to Attend
The Women's Business Center (WBC) at Florida Tech has teamed up with the LEAD Brevard class of 2015 to organize its first Financial Fluency Awareness Fair. The WBC has seen an increased demand in access to resources regarding capital for businesses and cash flow management in general. One common thread is that many individuals and experienced business owners do not have a high level of financial fluency to help them gauge how they or their businesses are doing financially.

Our goal is to identify community resources that address the issue of financial fluency and allow these programs and services an opportunity to reach our community by means of the fair.

It is a FREE event and we will have over 15 community organizations on hand to share with you important tips about finance management. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the services your community has to offer.

Hurricane Preparation for Boaters Seminar

Hurricane Prep Seminar

  • Hurricane Preparation for Boaters Seminar

Date: Saturday April 25, 2015
Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Category: Educational

Location: Faith Viera Lutheran Church
Price: $10
The Banana River Sail and Power Squadron is again offering the powerful seminar: Hurricane Preparation for all boat owners.

All too often, we seem to learn only through experience. A hurricane is one teaching experience you do not want to have. You do not want to learn what you should have done after a storm has destroyed your vessel. Our seminar is the better way to learn!

Why worry yourself about hurricanes now? Well, any plans, if actually you did one, are at least four years old. It’s going to be months before anyone starts talking about hurricanes and you remember to make a plan. The amount of time it takes to prepare is vastly underestimated. Start now learning now what you don’t know.

Right now is the best time to learn about:

· Forecast language, storm tracks, warnings, and time frames

· Threats of wind and water

· How much time it takes to prepare

· Legal issues: insurance and marina contracts

· Developing a hurricane plan

· How to minimize risks of not evacuating your boat

· Dealing with the aftermath

· Where to find additional information

The deadline for registration and payment: April 21, 2015. Register by April 21, 2015 by going to www.BRSPS.org, and using the PayPal application.
