The Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts is pleased to announce Modern Twist: Contemporary Japanese Bamboo Art, an exhibition exploring the innovative shape bamboo art has taken since the mid-twentieth century. Curated by Dr. Andreas Marks, Minneapolis Institute of Arts and organized by International Arts and Artists, Modern Twist features a stunning selection of works from the Clark Center for Japanese Art and Culture. With rare wall-hung installations and pieces never before seen in the United States, this exhibition both engages and educates audiences about a vibrant cultural art form.

Modern Twist was curated by Dr. Andreas Marks, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Collection of the Clark Center, and tour organized by International Arts & Artists, Washington, DC. The exhibition was generously supported by the E. Rhodes & Leona B. Carpenter Foundation, Nomura Foundation, Japan Foundation, Los Angeles, and the Snider Family Fund.

The local presentation of this exhibition made possible in part by a grant from The Japan Foundation of New York.

What sets this seafood festival apart from others is that it runs through a 100% volunteer effort! All preparation , whether it be on the grounds or with the purchasing, cooking or serving of the various menu items is accomplished by volunteers of the community. We do not have any food vendors on site. All booths are run with volunteers: many booths are made up of family members, often times having several generations working along side one another. It is this complete volunteer effort that makes our festival unique. The total commitment of our community and all our volunteers makes the Grant Seafood Festival a time honored tradition unlike any other. We are proud of our community and our festival is a testament to that fact.

Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge is hosting the sixth annual Florida Scrub-Jay Festival on Feb. 28, 2015 from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. The event celebrates the endangered scrub habitat and Florida Scrub-jay, a threatened species found only in Florida. The festival will offer live music, nature tours, live animals displays, presentations, environmental exhibits, and children’s' activities and games. The event and all activities are free.

The main event will take place at the refuge visitor center located on SR 402, 5 miles east of the Intersection of U.S. 1 and Garden Street (SR406) in Titusville. From the intersection of U.S. 1 and Garden Street, head east over the Max Brewer Bridge and continue to the fork in the road. Bear right at the fork and continue 2 miles to the entrance to the visitor center.

What sets this seafood festival apart from others is that it runs through a 100% volunteer effort! All preparation , whether it be on the grounds or with the purchasing, cooking or serving of the various menu items is accomplished by volunteers of the community. We do not have any food vendors on site. All booths are run with volunteers: many booths are made up of family members, often times having several generations working along side one another. It is this complete volunteer effort that makes our festival unique. The total commitment of our community and all our volunteers makes the Grant Seafood Festival a time honored tradition unlike any other. We are proud of our community and our festival is a testament to that fact.

The Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts is pleased to announce Modern Twist: Contemporary Japanese Bamboo Art, an exhibition exploring the innovative shape bamboo art has taken since the mid-twentieth century. Curated by Dr. Andreas Marks, Minneapolis Institute of Arts and organized by International Arts and Artists, Modern Twist features a stunning selection of works from the Clark Center for Japanese Art and Culture. With rare wall-hung installations and pieces never before seen in the United States, this exhibition both engages and educates audiences about a vibrant cultural art form.

Modern Twist was curated by Dr. Andreas Marks, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Collection of the Clark Center, and tour organized by International Arts & Artists, Washington, DC. The exhibition was generously supported by the E. Rhodes & Leona B. Carpenter Foundation, Nomura Foundation, Japan Foundation, Los Angeles, and the Snider Family Fund.

The local presentation of this exhibition made possible in part by a grant from The Japan Foundation of New York.

The teams in SCRJ are the The Space Coast Rocket Jockeys, and all-female team, The Space Coast Skunk Apes, an all-male team, and the Space Coast Endeavours, a Co-Ed team. SCRJs are currently recruiting men and women of all shapes and sizes from Melbourne, Palm Bay, Cocoa, Merritt Island, Cocoa Beach, Satellite Beach, Cape Canaveral, Viera, Indialantic, Rockledge and anywhere else in Brevard County. We will teach you all you need to know to play and can provide you with loaner gear, so come check us out.
